Can you place this movie?

This has bothered me for a very long time, it's not like an old movie, but not a new release either. It's about a family that stops at a gas station for directions or something and the guy specifically tells them not to leave the path, but they eventually do, and I am pretty sure it's some kind of ghost town, and if I remember correctly they were driving an excursion. Really kind of broad, but lemme know if you might know it :)
